I am thinking about doing it for one of my blogs. Tumblr has to make money somehow. Do you think they are hosting all of this as a charity?
Tumblr is a business, they either need to get revenue to pay their 8 employees and all of the bandwidth they consume or they can risk no longer existing.
You can vomit even harder when tumblr decides one day to cease operations because of people like you who EXPECT everything to be free.
